Managing Action Plans and Playbooks with Milestone Templates
- When creating your first template, a good starting point is to use the "Generate Quick Start Template". This will have a MEDDIC sales methodology framework. However, this can be used as a good reference on how to structure or build your own.
- On child headers or child milestones, it is normally easier to understand and accurately lay down the headers and milestones when using the "days after start" or "days before end" rather than percentages.
- If the owner assignment for the milestones and or headers is known, you can do the owner assignment on the parent level and it will subsequently give the children the same owner assignment.
- Using the creation criteria for headers is an effective way to have larger template cascade in rather than all at once. This will then prevent the need to make multiple templates for the same object.
Using a Trigger or a Flow
-
We include both a Flow and a Trigger for the Opportunity object in our package.
-
Preferred Approach – Flow
Flows are generally the recommended method of automation for our Playbook because they are easier to configure, edit, and maintain without requiring code. -
When to Use a Trigger
If your Salesforce org is already heavily loaded with flows, or if you encounter conflicts or performance issues, we recommend switching to the provided trigger instead.
-
Action Plan or Visual Action Plan
- Action Plans are set to quickly view your list of actions to help drive your plan of success
- As the Gantt Chart is a visual tool, it is most effective when there is more room for the component to be viewed.
- Placement of the component is often placed on a tab for easy navigation and cleanliness.
Gantt Chart Component
- Use the filter to show the milestones assigned to specific users or queues.
- Use the "Show Task List" button to add a list view of the headers along with the respective start and end dates.
